Paulus Mintarga

is a well-known contractor and self-taught architect who graduated from Civil Engineering at UNS. His job as a contractor who is interested in craftsmanship led him to explore materials which has become his passion until now.

The uniqueness of Paul Mintarga’s work is the use of recycled materials or leftover materials. Examples are the Rumah Rempah Karya in Gajahan, Colomadu, Solo and the Green Host Hotel in Prawirotaman, Yogyakarta. Both constructions are made from waste materials, ranging from wood, iron, rattan, to paralon. “Rempah” is an abbreviation of “remahan sampah”.
